BOARD OF DIRECTORS

About Our Board

The Midland Conservation District is self-governed by a locally elected, five-member board of volunteer directors who serve four year term. Non-voting associate directors may be selected by the MCD Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors make decisions regarding the District’s programs and activities, and the hiring of qualified staff.
The board meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm
Location:   USDA Service Center at 954 E. Isabella Rd, Midland MI 48640.

All board meetings are open to the public, and members of the community are encouraged to attend.

Becky Trudgen | Board Chair
I am a lifelong resident of the Saginaw Valley. I retired from teaching at Merrill Community Schools and would like to get more involved in volunteer and community work.
The Conservation District is a good fit because I love being out in nature, caring for our natural resources and planting trees for future generations to enjoy.
I especially like the district's focus on education and believe I can help make a positive impact.

Joseph Hodder| Vice Chair
I am relatively new to Midland County, having moved here at the end of 2022. I grew up in the tri-cities and have worked in agricultural research for Michigan Sugar Company since 2012. I am a Certified Crop Advisor, Commercial Spray Applicator, and have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from SVSU. I took a new position with Star of the West in October. I am a hunter, fisherman, gardener, and all-around outdoor enthusiast. I am interested in learning about others' perspectives regarding the conservation of our land and waterways, as well as providing my perspective to the board of directors. I’d like to get involved with the community and the various projects in which Midland Conservation District participates.

Meet our New Board Member
Glenn House

I am from Hemlock, MI, I am a US Army Veteran.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from Central Michigan University and the
University of Michigan – Flint, with a focus in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Compliance.
I began my professional career and The Dow Chemical company’s Michigan Division, Midland Operations, Safety and Loss Prevention Group. After three years I transitioned to a smaller chemical company in Bay City, Gougeon Brothers, Inc., as the Director of Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance where I spent the remainder of my professional career (32 years). Projects of special interest during my professional career include waste minimization and pollution prevention.
I am an outdoor enthusiast and conservationist. I am an avid vegetable and fruit tree gardener. Every spring and fall I plant new trees on my personal properties. I enjoy many
outdoor recreation activities, including kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, etc. My outdoor hobby of special interest is bird watching.
As a recent retiree I was hoping to find a local organization made up of friendly community people to which I could volunteer some of my free time. The Midland County Soil and Water Conservation District is a great fit as I have both an interest and passion for the outdoors.
My further hope is that I would be able to contribute towards the mission of the organization, as well as learn.
