Ginkgo has a wide range of medicinal uses and is also a source of food. Bright yellow fall leaf color. Ginkgo trees are dioecious, with the male producing a small pollen cone, and the female producing seed.
Wildlife: seeds, with their strong odor that many people find offensive, are probably adapted to be distributed by carnivorous animals, but in urban area, only squirrels will eat ginkgo, and it is not a preferred species for them. Birds avoid ginkgo as well.
