Emperor Francis appears more crack resistant than Royal Ann (Napoleon). This variety does not cross-pollenize with Royal Ann or Bing. ll to cooking. Like other tarts, this cherry is self-fruiting. The tree is early bearing and a heavy producer.
MAZZARD: is the most popular cherry rootstock grown in North America. It is generally more vigorous than Mahaleb, especially in poorer soils. This rootstock is somewhat dwarfing, cold hardy and precocious. Deep rooted. Not recommended for heavy soils or areas with high water tables.
